WEEKLY REPORT FROM COMMANDS: MONDAY 11TH AUGUST, 2014

1. ARREST OF SEA PIRATES/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (AKWA IBOM STATE): On 01.08.2014 at about 10:00AM, a team of Marine Police on Patrol along Oron Waterway was attacked by sea pirates operating in a speed boat. This led to an exchange of gunfire between the Police Patrol team and pirates, three of the pirates were fatally injured and while one other was arrested with gunshot injuries. Items recovered from the hoodlums are; two (2) LAR guns with nine (9) rounds of live ammunition, one (1) AK47 rifle with eighteen (18) rounds of live ammunition, forty eight (48) rounds of General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) ammunition and one speed boat. State CID ‪#‎Uyo‬ is investigating.
2. RECOVERY OF SNATCHED VEHICLE/ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS (‪#‎KADUNA‬ STATE): On 04.08.2014 at about 4:00AM, Police Patrol team at Sabon-Gari, Kaduna intercepted a Highlander Jeep (Reg. no. withheld) with one male occupant. Vehicle was earlier reported snatched from the owner at Mayere Crescent Kaduna by six armed men. One other member of the syndicate was later arrested at their hideout. Efforts to apprehend other gang members are been intensified. State CID Kaduna is investigating.
3. RECOVERY OF SNATCHED VEHICLE/WEAPON (KADUNA STATE): On 04.08.2014 at about 6:00AM, upon information, Police operatives recovered one unregistered Honda Hennessey vehicle along Uganda Street, Malali Low Cost Housing Estate, Kaduna. Upon a search, following items were discovered in the vehicle; one (1) air rifle with sixty-nine (69) live ammunition, one (1) locally-made Pistol, one (1) Revolver pistol with five (5) rounds of ammunition. The owner of the vehicle was traced and contacted. State CID Kaduna is investigating.
4. RECOVERY OF STOLEN VEHICLE/ARREST OF SUSPECTS (‪#‎KATSINA‬ STATE): On 04.08.2014 at about 9:20PM, Police Patrol team on Stop and Search intercepted one Honda Civic saloon car (reg.no. withheld) driven by one Abdulahi Nafiu ‘m’, 22yrs with one other occupant; Jamiu Suleiman ‘m’, 25yrs both students of Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma. The vehicle was earlier reported stolen from Dutsinma by the owner, both suspects arrested and taken into custody. Vehicle recovered to Police station, State CID Katsina is investigating.
5. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (‪#‎EKITI‬ STATE): On 05.08.2014 at about 5:00PM, Police SARS operatives investigating the Omisanjana robbery incident tracked down the hoodlums to their hideouts in Akure and Ado-Ekiti where four of the gang members (3 males and 1 female) were arrested. One (1) English-made cut-to-size single barrel gun, one (1) locally-made Pistol, two (2) live cartridges, one (1) axe and one Gulf car marked ‘EFY 229’ were recovered from the suspects. State CID Ado-Ekiti is investigating.
6. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (‪#‎BENUE‬ STATE): On 06.08.2014 at about 8:00PM, Police patrol team at Benue Links Transport Company Ltd. Makurdi intercepted a male person, a search was conducted on him and following items were recovered; two (2) locally-made Pistols with eight (8) rounds of 9mm live ammunition and one mask carefully concealed in a bag he was carrying. State CID‪#‎Makurdi‬ is investigating.
7. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (‪#‎ANAMBRA‬ STATE): On 06.08.2014 at about 9:30PM, Police patrol team within Umudim Nnewi intercepted a motorcycle carrying three male persons; upon a search one locally-made double barrel shot gun with four (4) unexpended cartridges was recovered from one of them. All three men arrested and taken into custody, State CID ‪#‎Awka‬ is investigating.
8. RECOVERY OF WEAPON/ARREST OF SUSPECT (KATSINA STATE): On 06.08.2014 at about 1:20PM, Police Patrol team on Stop and Search at Gimi village, along Batsari road, intercepted one male person coming from Rugu forest with a goat. Upon a search one (1) loaded locally-made Pistol with eight (8) pieces of pellets was recovered from him. State CID Katsina is investigating.
9. STEALING FROM VEHICLE (EKITI STATE): On 06.08.2014 at about 5:20PM, Police received report from a male car owner (name withheld) of Sabo Ijoka, Ado-Ekiti that himself and three others took a cash sum of TWO MILLION TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND NAIRA (N2,250,000) kept inside the boot of his Toyota RAV 4 Jeep (reg. no. withheld) to Ido for the purpose of buying fertilizer. That the four of them parked the vehicle and entered a shop to do market survey, and upon coming out discovered that his car had been broken into through the side glass by unknown thieves from where the boot was opened and money taken away. State CID Ado-Ekiti is investigating.
10. FOILED ROBBERY/ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS (‪#‎EDO‬ STATE): On 07.08.2014 Police received a distress call of robbery from Oghoghbe Community. Patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene where two male suspects ages 22 years and 20 years were arrested while trying to carry out robbery. One (1) locally-made cut-to-size double barrel gun, two (2) live cartridges and one expended cartridge were recovered from the suspects. State CID ‪#‎Benin‬ is investigating.
